Hi Indira,
I've also been looking for a hindi tutor, but more importantly for some ppl to take classes with - much more fun and productive. Can you PM me and put me in touch with your friends? Are they here on vacation or do they live in Mumbai? Thanks, Moritz

Hi can provide Hindi tuitions in Mumbai. I am a linguist by training, and work in the publishing industry. I fluently speak read and write English, Spanish and Hindi. I have been providing tuitions to both Indians from non Hindi backgrounds and tourists in India for 3 years. Let's discuss your requirements further.

Hello people.
Once again, I could not find information on internet for what I am looking for so I need your help .I am planning to study Hindi in Mumbai for something like two years. I already studied Hindi one full year in Paris but didn't complete the 2nd year(the degree is 3 years ).I would like to get a degree (national degree or any "recognized" degree) of hindi that I could use either to go on studies in an indian university or I could use to get equivalence in Paris, if I ever come back there some day... I found the price for foreigners on Mumbai university's site, 5000 rs the year. But no information about programs proposed to Foreigners... Does anyone know what are the programs for foreigners, how long they last, if it is possible to chose between full time and part time studies, in Mumbai? Thanks for your help! I'm curious about this as well. I've seen certificate programs for foreign students at Delhi University (http://www.du.ac.in/showcourses.html?department_id =Hindi) and I'm curious if there is something similar at a Mumbai school. I don't need the certificate, but I figure it wouldn't hurt. If not, are there at least some Hindi schools in Mumbai that offer classes of 10-20 people rather than very small or individual tutoring sessions?

as you already have 1 year of hindi experience then you can talk it over with the univerisites . Also doing a sanskrit course at the university is a good idea. My friends is going to join their one year sanskrit course soon. Also coming to mumbai and then checking out the options would be a good idea .

Well ... if you know either Mandarin, Cantonese or Tamil ... then we could have had a fair exchange
On a more serious note - are you looking for someone who tutors formally for a fee? I could get the info for you. But it could be expensive. (the tutor's fees) Which part of Mumbai are you in? |

Hey! Thanks for yr fast reply...oh yes, too bad, I am not fluent in any of those languages (though I do study Mandarin). Boo.
Anyway, I would be interested in a formal situation...and might have another person along for lessons...so two students...I'm in West Andheri...if you know of someone that would be fantastic... |

Walk in a busy Bombay street and ask this to any man/woman not holding a gun or scar marks all over their face or wanting to steal your money or feel you up or ... chances are they will tell you a place near by if they know or else shake their head in weird ways.

I've considered Marathi...Hindi seemed more practical in a global sense(?)but maybe it's not the way to go... if I will get better results with Marathi, I'd be up for learning it...in any case you think I should randomly solicit (non-ruffian type)people on the street? Really?
I wonder how the Terminator story would have gone down in Mumbai...I guess as a musical of some sort...duh... |

You would be better off with Hindi in the broader picture. Everyone in mumbai knows hindi. But NOT everyone knows marathi.
Will get you the numbers of some ppl. Pls PM me & remind me in 2-3 days time incase i have not done so. |
