Hi everybody !!
As I'm looking for a job in India, I've just had a potential job offer in Mumbai, as an architect in a local agency. But they're asking me about my salary expectations and I have no idea what to answer... Does anyone know the average salary for a junior architect in Mumbai ? Thanks in advance... dilo |

Hi ! I've been told I should ask for a remuneration around 15000 Rs. Is it OK to live in Bombay with that amount knowing I'll have to rent a room on my own ?
Hope someone living in Mumbai can answer me. Thx in advance ![]() |

15000 is simply not enough for an expat life in Mumbai...I would say that you would atleast need 75 K to survive there...
As a recruiter, I would advice you ask them to make an offer and then go along with that. You should research about the cost of living in Bombay..which is a very expensive city and take an informed decision. |

It will be my first job though I already have about 1 year experience from internships mainly...
I know 15000 is a lot less than what I expected, but 75 K just seems to be way too expensive for a junior architect ! Is it really that hard to survive in Mumbai with less than 75 K ? ![]() |

it would be nice if you had 75k , but no it does not mean u need that for basic survival. Someone i know very well picked up his first job in Mumbai last year and starting salary was around 20,000. Ofcourse he was in investment banking ad only had to rought it out for a few months before it got doubled but he managed, reasonably happily, in that much.
What are the salary ranges for such professions where you live and why India? Might it not be a better idea to get some experience back home where you are settled and then come down here with a larger power on salary... Quote:

Well the average salary in France for a junior architect should be around 1 lac...
Actually, as I've always wanted to work abroad, I first thought I should get a frist experience in here and then try to expat... But the thing is the job offers are really low in France for freshly graduated persons. Each firm is looking for a 3 to 5 (or even 10 years) experienced architect, and it's very hard for me to get a job. So I've been job hunting for 6 months and now I'm thinking it's pointless... So why not move abroad immediately ? And about choosing India, it's because it's developping really fast these years... I like Asia a lot, have been living in Nepal already but there's no way I can find a job there, so why not India ? |

1 Lac... I mean around 2500 $ per month, or 32 k$ per year if you prefer.

Well a USD to INR will rarely happen. I am curious to know the process you are following to find a job here....how exactly are you doing it.
Check out this site link..its the top job site in India. I have filtered the results down a bit but there are lots available everywhere in India not necessarily Mumbai..and i saw a few which offered a min salary of about 200,000 a year ( 17000 pm approx) but obviosuly i dont know what profile would suit you best. In case you have not then i would suggest you spend some time on this site and maybe send a few emails across. Foreign education holds a lot of leverage in India. |

What's the site link ?
For now I'm consulting and applying for job offers on different websites, jobstreet.com in particular... Or directly from architectural agencies' websites. |
