I had used raheja's just as an example. there are many others in mumbai, you should try those too.

Yes. Renting a spacious apartment is a beter way than a cramped hotel for sure, especially for groups, families etc. Taj Wellington mews in cooperage-colaba , marriott enclave in the suburbs and Bombay Luxury Apartments in colaba causeway offer extended stays (usually 2 weeks or more). Rates vary from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 14000 (like Taj's)
!! Check them out in the hotel section of this very site. |

are u off ure rockers? I think it is vice-versa. And Andheri is a dump, especially andheri west. The stars , or rather starlets, live in east andheri, in lokhandwala or 7 bungalows. It is a crowded madhouse with narrow streeets and a chaotic mess. Max. u should pay for a 1 bedroom in this area is 25 - 45k, that too in a good building; or else u will be getting ripped off.Glad to help![]() Last edited by nino : Jan 24th, 2007 at 00:17. What's wrong with Mahim?? I may have to move there in a few weeks, is there something particularly bad about the place? Opinions?

Actually, rental prices in Colaba doesn't seem to expensive to be place in South Mumbay. Maybe i imagine it has something to do with the fact in Colaba houses are old? Or what else? |

The rest is quite overcrowded and noisy, and smelly near the creek. (Though off Cadell road can be smelly, too) Plus, it has been an area of some inter-religious tension in the past. Bandra, just two km from Mahim, becomes upmarket! |

If you are looking for Western standards you are in the wrong country dude . Most of these areas are upmarket and good - but then again that is no guarantee that you would not have a slum in the neighbourhood or the road in front of your house is not not water logged . Welcome to India |

Yeah thats absolutely all true. My current hotel has a really nice pool that overlooks a slum. Go figure.

But then, as you say, that only buy you so much distance from the slum or the flooded road. |

please a feedback for an apartment... URGENT
Hy guys! I need a quick suggestion about a flat i'm considering to rent in Mumbay. I'm still in my home country (Italy) and i'm in contact by mail with a Western guy who is leaving his flat in Mumbay. The owner ask for 50000rps deposit and 15000 rps monthly for the rent. The apartment is at the 5th floor of a brand new building, 1 very small bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1 very small kitchen and a living room and is close to Lilavati Hospital-Bandra West. No A/C, no hot water (tough this won't be a problem). What do you think? Should i stop it by sending a part of the deposit? Is it a fair price? What's your suggestion? Thanks for your precious time Max
p.s. While there i'll need Internet Connectivity. Will it be a big trouble to install it? |

If its a furnished/part furnished place then you are getting a steal.
Even otherwise its very difficult to get a 1BHK(bedroom,hall,kitchen) below 10000-12000 in bandra west. Internet connectivity is certainly not a problem...loads of options. Paying deposit is customary too... usually its 2 months or 3 months rent. Its good that you are getting the place from another expat... this way you wont have to pay any brokerage to any house agent. |
