Customs Clearance

has anyone had the pleasure of trying to get customs clearance on cargo in mumbai? i send 1 teachest of books last year september from london (using sevenseas door to depot service) and i have been struggling for the past 2 months to get it cleared :-( the agents i have been dealing with have been trying to rip me off as usual - there are 3 players involved - no one is able to explain the process to me and i just get send from one agent to the next while no one is willing to take responsibility or explain the process
can anyone please recommend a sound customs clearance agent? or enlighten me in the process?

Nope.

But I've done it at Chennai Airport.

It was time consuming, as in about half a day, and having a Tamil-speaking wife helped enormously, but it was not complex, and we were not asked to pay any duty on our household miscellanea (nothing electronic) and we were not faced with any corruption.

Sack the agents, take along a friend who speaks the local language, and do it yourself!

(I had a container from UK, on door-to-door, and the shipping agents handled the customs quickly and efficiently, and far more cheaply than I had even dreamed.
