Considering Mumbai
Dear Forum Members
After several years in the US, we are considering a move to Mumbai and would appreciate your input on the following: 1) What is a typical hardship location premium for Mumbai for expats from US, working in a top US MNC? This will vary by company and situation, but I am just interested in the range of responses. 2) What are the top international schools for expatriate children (elementary school)? How does ASB compare to other schools in academics and sporting facilities? 3) Any recommendations for a customer focused and reliable real estate agent in Mumbai (who has good references and is internet savvy)? I want to get an idea for rental prices and resale/new construction costs. Thanks for your help! |

Dear Nichada We are packing at the moment for our relocation to Mumbai. Our kids have been enrolled in ASB and we feel it is a great school, academically and sportwise. Of course it all depends where you come from. At the moment our kids have been going to an english international school here in Prague and compared to this school (which is fine) ASB seems to us high standard. We have visited the school in September and were impressed with the facilities and the way the curriculum has been set up. But it again it is very personal of course.
We have used Brannigan Relocation and are very happy with them. They have organised everything for us regarding finding a house and we are quite pleased with the outcome. Both Michael and Preet are very proffesional and live up to their promises besides the fact that they are very nice people. Please let me know if you need more more info, you can pm me. Good luck, Elles |

Well, everything depends on your location of work and how close/far you want your home from there.
All parts of Mumbai have areas where expats stay. The city is very crowded and I would never want to live anywhere there except Malabar Hills. In the Suburbs, Bandra too has become very crowded and the only place where there is no traffic, as it is located in the corner, has a nice beach and lot of parks, gardens is Versova. Let me know if you need a contact for a real estate agent. I can give you the number of the same guy who got me my flat. |
