Best area for living -less pollution, accessible
We are moving to Mumbai in the next month and are thinking about areas we would like to live in. We would like something in close commuting distance to Nariman Point. However, we have two small kids and are looking to find a less polluting environment. We will be looking for a 2-3 bedroom. Any suggestions?

"close commuting distance to Nariman Point" and "less pollution" may be mutually exclusive, specially if you compare obvious pollution (vehicular smoke and noise pollution)
Better areas would include Altamount Road, areas like Little Gibbs Road off Hanging Gardens, areas near the sea on Nepean Sea Road, and maybe even a small part of Cuffe Parade but please remember that these are small pockets in a big city, these are expensive pockets and I have some doubts that the levels of pollution are that much lower here than elsewhere. |

Thanks for the reply
Thanks for your advice. I do realize that the city is polluted but I have heard that the south of mumbai is less polluted than the north (Juhu, West Khar) and then someone else said these are more polluted. It may just be a case of what you said which is there are small pockets throughout the city with relatively less pollution but relatively being the key word.

Marine Drive is the road on the sea coast which ends at Nariman Point. Try for leasing out a sea facing apartment on Nariman Point. Its got fresh sea breeze [ozone from the sea] and the commute will be negligible...

Very few sea facing apartments on Marine Drive. But an excellent idea if you can get one, and afford it.
Though even within those A/B/C roads at Churchgate, you may be ok. PS:The OP may want to look at the few apartments around the Oval too, near Churchgate. May be noisy, though. |

You can extend your search for accommodation from Marine Drive to Napean Sea Road...may be up to Breach Candy. All these areas are either sea facing or very near the sea coast. Since heavy vehicles in these areas are prohibited, with sea breeze,I guess the pollution will be relatively lesser than the other areas in Mumbai.

Sadanand is right...Some sea facing apartments in Walkeshwar may be good too.
Hey, aren't we all assuming that the OP's budget is high ? ![]() |

If money is no object, Dubai/Juhu may be faster than Nariman Point/Juhu
