Hi people
Thank you Shashank Shashank, I got my PIO card, but I didn't find any job in Mumbai...Do you think it is a good or a stupid idea if I go there and look for a job by myself? Actually I am about to buy my flight ticket. So anybody has suggestions? Are there French expats who could tell me about their experiences etc, and give me tips? Thanks Bye |

If you come to Mumbai and search for the Job then it will reap better results !! A local address and number on the resume means lot of ease for recruiters and which means more calls and opportunities..!!

hi
Hi, you both!
Thanks Shashank! Hi Indian Writer, I would take any job requiring the knowledge of French, at least, and maybe Spanish(it's less probable as I am not a native) as it is the only way for me to be paid enough.... I just want enough to live in Mumbai without using my savings. See you! |

Hi, If you are looking for a translators job, then you should approach the French Embassy or Aliance Francaise, as they might be getting requests for translators. Also, I am not sure whether you need a work permit to work in India.

Thanks for the suggestions Indian Writer. Yep of course teaching French is a good idea. But if I give private lessons, Undeclared to Tax services, will I get into trouble?
Shashank, I have a PIO card. I can come any time to India for 15 years, buy property, mobiliary goods (make business?...hmm this I must check again...). I have the same or equivalent rights as NRIs...Anyway, any employer interested would help me get the right work permit, if the PIO card isn't enough, right? See you! |

Since you hold PIO status, I don’t know which taxation laws apply to you … Local resident laws or NRI laws? An expert would be able to guide you better.
Also, as you have PIO status, it means you are in some way linked to India. Which in turn means you have some Indian contacts … maybe they could help you get a job. |

I am afraid, that won't be the scenario in your case..you would be in lower middle level of company (as per my assumptions)...and most of the companies won't like to be hasseled in doing such things at that kevels..

hi
Hi
Indian writer, just to make it clearer it isn't because I have the PIO that I have contacts, I got the PIO card just because I am of indian origin and was born in India (non-born in India can get it too). But I managed to have contacts anyway. Shashank, that's really weird, because I have received a mail from Bangalore where they say, they'd help for work permit, etc...and in many cases on this site, I saw employers seem to help a lot (deposits, finding housing)... Adventurer-Prince, I don't want to be in Delhi, I have been there and didn't feel good and safe there...didn't like it, that's all. Bye! |

What I said earlier is not a rule of thumb, I agree that some companies would help you get the work permit and all, however most of them would be reluctant for the same....deposits, packing, housing are standard things..most of the companies would offer them...
