How does education factor in to earnings? There is experience and there is experience and an advanced degree. Does a masters equal a raise?

Nick, we were in former East Germany living in a barn with no utilities in the 90's---different critters, but we are probably reasonably prepared! I just would like to think our lifestyle is improving a bit through the years!

It'll be interesting to get your feedback and comparisons when you get here.

I sure hope we can get things worked out to get there. The numbers sure don't seem to make sense for an expat with so many things being priced on the global market like airfares, cars, computers... Food is much easier if you eat local stuff you have pretty much local costs. It is definitely true here. It is buying "Cornflakes" or western brand cookies that is extremely expensive---rice, beans and fruit is cheap!

Pretty much anyone who has a job paying 10 lakh CTC in the IT industry has at least a graduate degree in engineering or a graduate degree in science plus a masters in computer application.

If this is not your first job right after the masters degree(or its not an entry level position), then the masters degree will not mean any extra money. Its your experience which will count.
