Moving with family to Hyderabad
Hello,
I hope that someone can provide me with information about Hyderabad. I (32) am moving with my wife and two kids (2 years - 4 month)to Hyderabad . I just got the job offer and am flying there in 2 weeks to check out the city...Before flying there I thought you can help me with some infos: - Where is the best place to rent a house ? Ideally with garden ? Hope that wouldn't be too expensive ( lower than 1000 Dollar). Which areas should I visit ?- How is the health care system there ? What about children doctors end everything ? - What about kindergardens ? Are there any ? - What else should I check out ? - I heared that it is impossible to get a bank account as an expat. Is that so ? Thanx in advance from Berlin hassan |

Apollo Hospital recommended.Had excellent pediatricions in Hyderabad through my sister in law.
With an address and a reference and some patience you can get an account. See if you can find Wow Hyderabad online. A recent issue has my favorite neice in it and her place. Real estate has shot sky high in Hyderabad-Secunderabad. Best area depends on where you need to be as its a big urban environment and growing. Banjara Hills and the nearby environs aren't to sniff at.. |

Hello Hassan,
Welcome to Hyderabad. We had recently moved back to Hyderabad after a 12 year stay in Canlifornia and are loving every moment of it. I am originally from Hyderbad so your mileage may vary Quote:

Hi Hassan,
House First find out the area where your office is located. Depending on that you can search for a house in that vicinity. If you are going to be around Hi-tech City, Banjara / Jubilee hills area there are a number of well maintained and safe gated communities like adunut mentioned. But otherwise, the apartments are also not bad at all. I have an expat friend staying in a sprawling apartment in Somajiguda area with a common swimming pool, gym etc etc. And all well within your budget. Hospitals Health care system is mighty advanced in the private hospitals. The RAINBOW hospital for kids at Jubilee hills is open 24X7. Once you start interacting with the pediatricians for the vaccinations etc. probably you can zero down to one for regular checkups. Kindergartens There are plenty, apart from what adunut mentioned- The Future Kids Roots Oakridge Orchids Sreenidhi Of these I’d recommend Future kids and Oakridge. Oakridge has an excellent transport facility also and the campus is very neat. Bank Account Opening an NRE account with Citibank would not be problem at all. In fact if your investments are high they even assign a dedicated account manager to help you maintain your finances. Others: Check out for water-supply before occupying a house. Consider the distance between the House-School-Office before deciding on the former two, as the traffic, sometimes can really take a toll on you. Go through the known sources while hiring a maid and a driver. Don’t bother to pack extra Diapers, Gerber Food, Skimmed milk...etc; everything is available in QMart, Banjara Hills. Well this is all I can think of as of now... Welcome to Hyderabad-The City of pearls!! Once you settle down we can probably start giving you dope on recreational stuff ![]() |

I will work in Infocity, Madhapur. And you are right. the distances between work, home, hospital and kindergarten shouldn't be to big. * Out of the places you mentioned.. which ones are near to Infocity ? And how much would houses cost approx. ? *I just contacted Citibank and will open a account here in Berlin. Moneytransfer is free of charge... *very nice.. Thanx again people !! I am really exited to come to India ! Cheers Hasan |

Hi Friends,
I read few threads on this site and I felt like I will get more accurate answer to my questiosn here so please help me. I am planning to re-locating to Hyderabad soon (I am currently in USA) and will appreciate your input on figuring out the cost of living in hyderabad. I have a wife and 2 kids in family(1 is just 3 months old and other one is 5 yr.) To me, I think the biggest expenses would be rent and kid's school. How much can I expect to pay for rent for 2-3 BHK apartment in good area like jubilee hills/banjara hills ? What are other good area near Hi-Tec city? Also, what schools in Hyderabad are good ones? Normally, how much do they charge per month? Are they private schools or public schools run by central education board ? Thanks Last edited by nayan : Sep 24th, 2008 at 11:29. |
