Question Moving and studying in Hyderabad.

Wow - what an amazing forum, this is... SO Glad that I found it.

Well I have a few questions, and I figured that thereŽll might be some people out here on this forum to help me out a little.

IŽm about to study in Hyderabad from late July to early December at the university of Hyderabad - me and my Girlfriend are planning to rent a decent furnished apartment, where should we look after such apartments and in what areas would it be preferable to live? How expensive is it to rent a furnished apartment in Hyderabad?

Would it be reasonable to bring a laptop?? Or would i look like a stupid rich dude?

Would my girlfriend be able to find work in Hyderabad without a work-visa?

Anything else I should now about Hyderabad?

Thanks

Welcome to IM & my neighbourhood

Hyderabad University campus is in Gachibowli area of Hyderabad which is on the outskirts of the city. It is very close to s/w companies in Gachibowli like Microsoft, Infosys etc. and some 6-7 kms from Hi-tec city which again houses plethora of sw companies.

I think the closest decent apartment would be Hill Ridge Springs in Gachibowli where I myself stay. There are other options in areas nearby like Kondapur, Lingampalli within 4-5 kms of university. The rents have skyrocketed in these areas due to highly-paid (from indian standards) s/w geeks preferring to stay close to their office. A furnished 3 bedroom house in this particular apartment could cost anywhere between Rs. 15-25k per month. Are you not getting any accomodation from the university? That would be the best I believe.

If you don't bring a laptop, you would be considered a pitiable dude

There are very places where a foreign girl would be able to work temporarily without a work-permit unless she has some specialized skill where she could hit the ground running.

There are several things you should know about India/Hyderabad but depends on what matters to you.

Feel free to ask anything.
