Question International schools in Hyderabad

Hi, We are moving to Hyderabad in May 2009. We have a 6yr old and 2 yr old. Can anybody suggest a good international school with either IB or GCSE syllabus?

FYI. Most of the expats or foreigners go to International School of Hyderabad.

I personally know Orchid International School and would recomend you to avoid it - it sucks in many ways My daughter went there and we already pulled her out.

Indian education is too tough on kids from the start in my opinion but if you don't mind lots of homework and lots of learning by heart just because and a heavy school bag....then no problem.

I have this vage feeling that there is no such thing as a good international school in hyderabad

Yep. But their higher classes are in Icrisat, Patancheru an hours plus drive from the centre of the city) and the other classes, presently in Banjara Hills, are shifting too.

They have buses, though.

I didn't know that! Why is it so popular then?

My kid is now in Sloka and we certainly found our peace

I guess because it follows foreign curriculum and expat kids don't have to switch systems all the time, or get thrown into the fierce and competitive Indian system- a system that has other drawbacks too.

Just guessing

Check out the Oakridge International School. They have an IB curriculum. I just visited it yesterday and was impressed with the academics as well as the facilities.

About Oakridge International....I recently read in the newspaper that they "lost" the IB "licence" but are working hard to fullfil all conditions again to get it back. I think that itself is a very weird info on this school.

Otherwise I was there as well and it does look nice.

Sloka is a waldorf school. So very differnet approach all together. www.slokawaldorf.com They are in Banjara and Jubilee hills.

Check out the schools provided in links page below:

http://www.hytea.org/Links.aspx

Indus is the newest and the most expensive school, I have no idea how good it is. It is far out again but this is common, there are always buses and people are moving more towards Gachibowli area anyways for proximity to Hitec City (jobs) and international schools...
