Hyderabad- Servents Quarters

I have been looking on the internet for housing in Hyderabad for a 5 bedroom house and many have servants quarters. I was wondering what exactly that meant. Would that be a small apartment within the house? maybe a room with a sitting room? We will have a live in maid/cook/nanny (it would just be one person). I have never had a live in employee and am not comfortable with the thought of a stranger living with us.

It will be a tiny room with very basic facilities, probably off the kitchen.

I think coming from the US you'll find it hard to languish in your 5 bedroom manion while the live-in housekeepings squats in her cupboard. But they can be handy for the odd overnight stay if there's a late finish due to baby sitting duties etc.

But discuss it with your potential housekeeper - most of us ex-pats over-pay so much compared to the local employers she'd be willing to sleep hanging upside down from the bathroom ceiling.

Thats to bad I was hoping it was bigger then that. I may not want her with the family all the time but would feel bad sending her away to a cupboard so I could have alone time with my family.

Bear in mind that it may be a far more commodious cupboard than the one she would be living in without the job.
