Hyderabad: motorcycles, etc.
Seems I'll definitely need a motorcycle sooner than later. I'm an experienced rider but I have to admit, Hyderabad traffic gives me the willies.
Anyway, I don't need anything new or fancy. Anyone know of a good used moto lot where I can also bring the thing in for the inevitable repairs? I'm hoping to get something a littler bigger than the standard Honda Hero. Silly, I know, but are those Enfield's affordable? Should this be posted in the Andhra Pradesh areas? If so, my apologies. Thanks, Todd |

Editing the thread title to reflect Hyderabad.
2nd hand bikes will be best bought through somebody known, or alternatively through newspaper ads. See the Deccan Chronicle. Keep in mind that they will quote too much and may try to sell bikes in poor condition. |

Thanks, Capt. You a hard working man on this site. It's much appreciated. My boss offered one of his "crotch-rocket" bikes but I don't think I'm built for those... I'd like the speed too much, I think.

second hand bike sales
You can go to ramkoti near abids. There are atleast 30 brokers in that area.
But before you pay your first rupee to the broker see the registration papers of the bike. They may over cliam the milage part. |

Following up on the "etc." part of the thread title: I'll be in Hyderabad for 6 weeks, starting in early October, and would like to rent a (ideally) both a scooter and a mountain bike for the duration. Is possible? Maybe I should just buy a secondhand scooter in Ramkoti & sell it when I leave?

I think a Bullet 350 new is now up around the 80K mark, but a reasonable second hand one can be got for 30K - repairs and spares are ridiculously cheap. The best buys are in backpacker areas at the end of the season (say beginning Febraury). Prices become very negotiable - I was offered a roughie for 8K - as I say Bullets are basic machines that can be rebuilt by a good shop (stress good) for very little money.
