KristinM to answer your question, I saw the job posted on the Jobs abroad website. I think one was also posted on Dave's ESL on the international job board.
I got hired as a corporate trainer for a large financial company in their call centre training employees. Qualifications you need are a bachelors degree, a TESOL or equivalent, experience teaching overseas (usually 1 to 2 years is suffice), and call centre experience is an asset. I went through 2 interviews before being hired and the process took a couple of weeks from start to finish. Now I am in the process of getting my work visa. The employer needs to send me all the documents, and then I hope I will be well on my way. Hope this answers your question. Last edited by machadinha : Mar 5th, 2008 at 08:10. Reason: fixed URL |

Will this salary provide me a good living?
I was offered job in Hyderabad and am just awaiting my Visa before booking my flight and moving for a year. Should be there by mid-April
I have just been doing some reading on the site but didn't really find the exact answer I was looking for. So once again, I ask for expert advice. The job I was offered pays 40,000 rupees/month (before taxes) which I assume that is 21%. I want to know if this will allow me a comfortable middle-class lifestyle? Here is some info to help determine this: -The company provides accommodation -They pay my return flight and visa fees -They provide Health care up to 1,000,000 Rps -Provide me with a driver to and from work So my expenses will be food, personal expenses, internet, travel (my boyfriend lives in another city in India). I'd like to explore more of India on the weekends and on my personal vacation time. So, will I be able to live comfortably? I like to splurge on myself sometimes, so that should be taken into consideration. I hope I am not being ignorant, I have traveled throughout India, but I haven't lived there. So your advice is much appreciated. Last edited by machadinha : Mar 8th, 2008 at 06:06. Reason: merged threads |

As accomodation and Travel expenses are borne by the company, you can have a comfortable time there.
Internet should not be more than Rs 800 Per month. You can even save some money for your planned weekend Getaways. |

Hmmmm, does anyone not have any feedback about my last question? I posted it as a separate thread because I thought I'd get more responses.
But the powers of India mike merged my question with this thread, and I'm not getting any responses ![]() |

Well, we could separate it again, but I'd agree with batistuta that 40,000 spending money will be more than comfortable.

I haven't been to India in a while, but I do have a lot of family there and i'm going to visit this summer, so I can fairly say that you would be perfectly happy with R. 40,000 a month, especially if your company is providing you with the accomodation, transportation, and medical costs.

Here are your answers
What kind of city is Hyderabad like to live in for a female foreigner? It's usual. You may experience something initially as foreigneres are always people to be seen by locals especially local cool guys !!! -Are there gyms I can be a member of or yoga classes I can take? LAtitudes ------- can easiely find. Its in madhapur -What is Hyderabad like for a social life (I have a bf in India) so not looking for romance, just people to hang out with. I speak French too, so would be interested in the Indian Alliance francaise if there is one in Hyderabad. Wow ...... great. Do let me know if you don't find one . I am always ready for roaming and movies stuff etc. -I am a voracious reader - what kind of book stores are there in Hyderabad? Almost all types of. There are many book stalls. In panjagutta there are many such shops which may interest you. -Shopping- I am a girl and love new clothes what kind of shopping is available there? Now that's getting interesting. Almost all malls. Lifestyle, shoppers stop, hyd central , pantaloons , LEVI , REEBOK, adidas etc etc all types of showrooms availaible. For indian style many shops in ameerpet and all. - I will be provided with accomodation, will I be able to have DSL internet in my apartment and what is the cost per month? I know that might be a dumb question, but I figured I'd ask anyway? That's not at all a problem. You can easiely get that facility alomost anywhere. Don't worry for that !!!! I hope that this answers your queries ......... feel free to ask !!! Cheers !!! Quote:

Thanks for the info Skyineyes.
I am ready to leave for Hyderabad, but I am awaiting my Visa from the consulate. It's been a week today. Hopefully I get it soon My employers want me to start by the end of March, which is looking very unlikely, unless I get my visa in the next week. |

Skyineyes - I'll be in touch when I land in Hyderabad and get settled. It would be nice to meet some people while I am living there.
What is the expat community like in Hyderabad? I am not one of those people that only wants expat friends, either. I am hoping to make some great Indian friends. I'm just curious. It's nice to meet people also that are in the same situation. |
