OK, second attempt (I HATE INTERNET CAFE'S)
Hi Ray & welcome to indiamike.com You have come to the right place for info, other members of this site have spent lots of time in north and south Goa. Rs 60 000 a month will get you a good life and leave plenty of money left over. If you want good information you will have to give a lot more information. Where in Goa do you want to live? Why? Have you been to Goa/India before? Where? When? What do you like? What would you rather avoid? Do you like the monsoon? Do you drink? Do you want to buy a place to live? Do you want to run a hotel/guesthouse? Do you know local people in Goa?

Thanks Ddutta & Steve Ber for Your quick reply.
Steve wanted more info, so here it comes; -Where: South-Goa, the Margao, Benaulim surroundings -Why: We want to have a lay-back life without working (2-3 days a week as volunteer for animal rescue, if they want us) -NOoo, we haven't been there, but we aren't crazy, maybe we are ? I've been living for 2Yrs. in California,2Yrs;Kenia,1Yr.The Gambia, 8Yrs Spain, 3Yrs. Russia, Yrs. Norway and 1 in Sweden, Jane has had her share of living, wotking and travelling to, so we adapt quickly. -What we like are the good (bad) things in life. -We want to avoid problems with the authoryties. -Do we like Monsoon, what can be worse than winters (6 months) in Russia & Scandinavia ?? Also more ???? coming up : Residence-perm., Housing ( long term rent), Health-Insurance, etc. Thanks a lot Guys & Girls |

I have been to Mumbai before, I want to live in Mumbai because of the lifestyle (weather, food, culture, house help available?), And, use Mumbai as a base for short trips to other parts of India. would like to live near Juhu beach or north of, I would like to avoid the monsoons (move to other parts in India during this? or back to Canada for 6 months?) I know some local people there I would consider/prefer to buy a flat there (I have no idea what this would cost). I may do substitute teaching, not necessarily for income. Would appreciate suggestions, thoughts, comments from all, esp from those who may have done it and then reverted back to their own country........ ![]() |

Y'all better work on those visas for India first, before you get involved with your plans. It's very hard to get a permit to stay there for more than six months -- just as hard as it is for an Indian to stay in our countries for longer than a tourist visa.

At 60K, you'd be comfortably off from the 2nd year onwards. er... the first year, you're most likely to overshoot your budget because of your unfamiliarity of Indian Babudum (in triplicate). We will launch satellites and missiles and even nuclear weapons but to register your house/motorcycle will require a small mountain of paperwork with an equal amount of sweat from your side. :-) Rest assured, we aren't racist, as Indians, we too undergo the same torture! Once you're past the paperwork, you can effectively disappear from big brother's radar! cheers, Digital Drifter |
