We are looking for a 6 month(initially)from october to March more or less. 2 adult and 2 children.
I like countryside not city, so a individual house will be great. I don't know how is goa, and if possible to get a decent property for rent. How is is the life in goa for a european family. I spend the last 5 years in scotland. I relly appreciate any comment. Thanks ![]() |

What made you think of staying long-term in a place you don't know in the first place?
Honest question mind, might aid some respondents in answering you.

We have been here for 7 months now and are still finding difficult at times. We are renting a house but there is so much red tape here you wouldn't believe. To be honest you need to visit Goa a couple of time at least before making such a commitment.

No children, but we have brought our dog with us.As for problems you name it.We are renting our house but because we are not residents you have to go through somebody else to get anything.Gas bottles for cooking (luckiy we have our own card now)it took us 3 months to get a landline phone connected. No water for days on end, frequent power cuts the list goes on.You can't legally buy a car or a scooter unless you put in a locals name. Surprisingly saying all that we love it over here

The idea is going with a 6 month return ticket and enough money to buy a ticket at any time, so if for any reason we want to leave Goa is not going to be a problem.
A Basic 2 or 3 weeks holiday cost me a fortune in compare with a 6 month living. fly to goa is around 500£ return average per person. And when you go to a normal hotel is expensive too. For that reason is going to be better if we going for 6 month straight away. The budget including fly ticket is around 12000€ Probably firstly get an acomodation for the first couple of weeks in a b&b and spend time moving around trying to find a house to rent. But will be good to have an area already selected, is going to be easier that way.. |

I agree with brauner786.
It always seemed to cost me roughly the same amount to visit India. Whether it was two weeks and cars between various hotels, five weeks in the same guest house, or six months in my own rented place.
