Cost of living per month in Goa (Candolim)

Hi All.

Not been on the forum for a while, been very busy sorting out this that and the other.

Any got a ballpark figure for the cost of living in Goa (Candolim) per month or year for a couple. Not including rent or mortgage.

Will be buying from local markets etc, but what about Gas Electric. Rates. Council Tax. Running a Car. Etc Etc.

We will not be living the high life, but will be going out for meals drinks and the usual.

Would be glad of any help on this.

Thanks.

Bill.

A couple I met last season where living well on £100/week.

they where a bit on the tight side, no maid only used Tuk Tuks and ate the cheep food.

I'm planing to live on £150/week next season to me.

i aint tight and £100 a week is easy , sorry was easy last season , not including rent etc , this would even take you out a few nights [not all night] , infact i know a couple who where doing it on £50 a week .
depends where you go .
bearing in mind you could get steak n chips for £1.35p in the highland resort . if you went to panjim or mapusa you could eat for pennies .
but choosing where you drank was what saved the money a kingfisher could vary from 45 to 110 ruppees .

We are going fo 6 months and budgeting for 100 pounds a week {excl rent etc.}.I think this is on the high side as we won't be going out every night.

Hi Colin. We hope to move to Candolim maybe early next year. We will have to rent for a while until the apartment is ready.

We will be living (when the apartment is finished) just out side Candolim, up past the school and the church, on the Panjim road.

Cheers.

Bill.

so how much can one expect to pay for a decent 2-3 bedroom apartment/house?

£100 per week sounds like a fortune to me in India! My rent in Goa was £30 per month and I spent about £5-£8 a day eating out - and that was in nice-ish places. My motorbike was 100rupee a day!

Depends on how long you are going to be renting, furnished or non-furnished, the proximity to the nearest beach, whether a swimming pool is part of the apartment complex etc. The longer you rent, the cheaper it is. Generally speaking South Goa is cheaper than North Goa.

Bill.Hi Colin.

Not too sure, all depends on property sale here in the UK. Maybe Dec/Jan. We know the Highland well, very nearly bought an apartment there. But then we found our place which is just far enough away from Candolim beach, it's going to cost about £16/18000. Two on suite Bedrooms, large living room, good size kitchen and 3 balcony's. But will not be ready until next Aug/Sep/Oct, so will be renting, which will give us plenty of time to find furniture etc, and finding out all about living in Goa, we should be pretty well organised by the time we move in to the new pad. But now we are in the waiting game. If we had our way we would leave tomorrow. How long will you be staying in the Highland?

Regards.

Is that 110 pounds/month or per week? How far from the beach was it?
