ATM machines in Goa

I have a VISA Debit Card. That is the only form of money i'm brining with me.
My question is: What is the maximum amount i can withdraw from an Indian ATM Machine in one day. Does the money dispense in rupees or dollars?

Rupees. What is your card limit. I can only draw 15000 pd but that's plenty here. Keep some $$$ as a side supply.

"at one time" does that mean at each transaction or is that the daily limit?

Atm

I came back from nine months in India in June. Was in Goa for a week. Most ATM's have a daily limit of often 10,000 or15,000 or sometimes 20,000r which is more than enough for your daily Mojito's on the beach. The only time we have any difficulty with money was in remote villages the Himalaya and only once was it a bit of a hassle. Most hotels you can pay with credit cards. Goa is very well set up for tourists so no problem there. Namaskar!

Why are you so obsessed with this ATM thing? Even Rs10,000 will last you for ages.
There is probably an ATM in Vagator itself. If not then Anjuna (next village south) or Siolim for certain (next village north)

because my only form of currency i will bring with me is a VISA Debit card.
I have to use it to pay rent and everything, therefore an atm machine close by is very important as to have access to cash. I'm sure though since it's a tourist place that atm's are not a problem. Sorry for hyping this thread up so much, but i've never been to Goa.

Hey Omnii, normally different banks have different daily limits.
Citibank has the highest daily limit of Rs.50,000. Now that is not the kind of money you want to have on yourself. But generally 10,000 t0 15,000 is the limit from other banks.

As for ATMs in Vagator I'm not very sure, perhaps it is wise to get the cash at Calangute (approx 10 km south of Vagator), there are several options here. Several ATMS on the road leading to Baga.

Another thing, though Goa is geared for tourists you might occasionally hit a nice place and be surprised to find out that they don't accept cards, happened to me in Vagator. So it's always wise to have some back up!
Hope this helps!

Why on earth would you think that an ATM machine in India would dispense dollars?

because i've been to some south east asian countries with multinational banks like Citibank that dispense in dollars.

that's why i would "THINK" that. I'm not familiar with Goa and the banks they have there.

AM I NOT THEN ALLOWED TO ASK THE QUESTION WITHOUT GETTING SOME BADGERING COMMENT!

The ATM's dispense Rupees. Most of the posts did mention amounts than can be drawn was in Rupees.

dzibead was probably just stating the obvious, in the way he normally does.
