Yikes - this month's electricity bill!

I just paid Rs. 25,951 for this month's electricity.
Came as a bit of a shock, since last month's was only Rs. 7000 or so. Not sure what changed

We keep our ACs on 24 hours, because even when we are not there, the pets need to be comfortable.
So, the plan is to keep the fans on during the day, and put the ACs on timers. Plus the insulation is lousy in our flat - need to get that fixed.
Any other ideas? This is in Gurgaon.
Thanks,

Put up air coolers then. I'm sure the pets wouldn't mind a bit of noise and humidity

Check the number of units used during the previous months and this month. You can also get your meter checked for any fault ?

Cheers!

Must be a meter fault, monitor your meter and take note of your daily usage. If there is a big jump in the usage on a particular day, report immediately and get your meter changed.

Thanks, Hitanshu and Manzey.
No room for air coolers - there are ACs all over the place.
And I did check into the units - all perfectly kosher. I just think that with the extreme heat last month, the ACs were running non-stop.
Hopefully we get some cooler weather, and I will temper our AC usage to a reasonable amount. The kids are in school during the day, and we are both working. So there is no reason why I couldn't set the ACs' timer to switch them on at say 5:30 PM. Just didn't think it through - typical of me.

I'll report next month, with better results, hopefully!
