where to stay while you look for a place to stay

I have given up on trying to arrange accomomdations from a distance...but now the problem becomes where to stay while I am trolling around Delhi looking for a PG or apartment. Naturally I don't want to invest too much money on a short term accomodation, and I can't really go to a hostel with 3 pieces of luggage and 2 carry ons so now this is a problem....

Anybody else overwhelmed by having to arrange for arrangements while you arrange?

This maybe stating the obvious but have you checked out craigslist, espatriates and yuni-net? On the last one you need to be a member though. If you let me know what areas you prefer I can post it to the forum there, and hopefully you would get some replies

Hi...we had the same issue. At first we put up in a hotel (we had three carry ons and two big suitcases. We just stayed in a cheap hotel with bad food and good internet for being to make arrangements easier. However, it took us a few weeks and we did run through about $400 for 2.5 weeks. You can get cheaper rooms but then we heard about security issues.
We stayed in sector 15 of gurgaon and got a place in dlf-1 after wards, which took only 2 days to arrange after we found it.

So, it was like 4 days of looking and 2 days of waiting total (the rest of the time can be attributed to our lack of knowledge on where to find places). We ended up on 99acres (we paid a one month broker fee tho ).

Good luck and found your last line too funny and befitting how I felt when we first got here!
