What do you do on the weekend?

Hello everyone. I'm thinking of moving to Delhi and wanted to get a feel for how people spend their spare time. Everyone's different of course but if you could give a few examples of what you do to relax or have fun when you're not working it would be most appreciated. I'm wondering how I would spend my spare time after I've seen the obvious tourist sights. I'm in my early 30s and don't have kids yet. Many thanks.

Thanks

Thanks for your replies everyone. Sleep, beer and movies sound pretty good. Right now I'm living in Tokyo so I like to explore different parts of the city, eat good food, go to the park, read a book, see a movie or head to the mountains for the weekend. It seems like there's plenty to do in Delhi anyway. Maybe see you there for a beer soon. Cheers

You should be able to do all of that, and more in Delhi.

Delhi has every thing for every one. If you are interested in history Delhi has over 150 historical monuments, if you are in to nature there are lovely green parks, if you are in to music and cultural activities you will find some thing happening some where almost every day.... and talking of food you will be amazed at the varities available. Mountains are just a short hop from Delhi.

I am ashamed to say that Mall hopping is currently the favourite past time for most of us Delhities (especially during the hot summers). However , you can do most everything you can do in Tokyo ( Even eat Sushi ). Also , note that Delhi has more old monuments than Rome . You can spend a lifetime exploring them (especially in the winters) and is a short haul to hordes of nice places in Rajasthan. And Delhi is the gateway to the Mighty Himalaya mountains.

Parks in Delhi - Lodhi gardens , Buddha Jayanti park , Mughal Gardens , Jamali Kamali , Zoo

Markets ( To explore ) - Connaught Place , Dilli Haat , Khan Market ,Hauz Khas village , South Extension.

Malls - There are atleast 50 malls in the National Capital Region ie; Delhi and it's suburbs. Most malls have Multiplexes , Food courts , Dine-in restaurants, Book Stores , Cafes/Coffee shops , Fast food chains, Hyper markets and Departmental Stores besides the usual shops for Apparel / Shoes /Watches etc. The better ones also have Night clubs /Pubs.

Mountains - Delhi is the pit stop for the Himalayas . Nainital , Mussorie , Dharamshala , Shimla , Manali, Rishikesh . All of them are weekend getaways for Delhities. Easily driveable.

Eating Joints - Delhi is the food capital of India.

Hope you are now convinced about coming to Delhi .

Manali ? I've never heard anybody going to Manali on a weekend. It's a 14 Hrs. run to Manali from Delhi.
