Swiffer brooms and associated wipes available?
Swiffer brooms and associated wipes available?
Has anyone seen the brand 'Swiffer' available in stores for sweeping floors. They come with their own (disposable) dry and wet papers that get hooked into the corners of the broom - a long pole with a rectangular flat piece at the end, with notches made into the corners to hold the paper in place - very handy cleaning tool. If they are available, but happen to be an imitation, how would you compare the quality?
Thanks
Thanks

Never seen them here except in one shop -only accessible to diplomats- but who knows if you might find them somewhere. But forget about that: likely you'll hire a maid and do as you like but changing their cleaning habits to swiffers et al will be a frustrating and ultimately self defeating experience. Been there, tried that. Now she's back to sweeping with a palm-frond short broom. If you can't live without your swifter, take a supply in your container but I wouldn't bother.
"It is preferable to have a criminal for a servant rather than a fool because a criminal's actions are predictable and you can protect yourself against them, whereas there is no telling what a fool's next move will be.
Hmmm, so only the diplomats have been given the pleasure of cleaning their own homes!
That's too bad the swiffer is not easily accessible, for this item is handy to have for the days when the maid can't show up (or I am feeling just too darned independent).

We have brooms, mops, floor cloths, squeejees, and many other wonders of the ancient and modern worlds. We even have vacuum cleaners.
You won't have any problem cleaning your own floor at all!
(Swiffer does look good though)
Thanks all, for the replies. Planning on bringing a few boxes of the the wipes anyways for one of those days of convenience. Sigh, tend to be a sucker for the familiar!

What a piece of junk. I bought one when they first came out & was having trouble inserting the rod into the swiffy thing. I think it was a QC issue, anyway to make a long story short I ended up putting a bit too much pressure on it with my foot & broke it right in two. So I took it back to the store .... but they wouldn't give me a refund.
So I just dumped the pieces on their floor & walked out - best bang for the buck I could get at that point.

Ok, just to enlighten all kind posters here - I am of Indian origin (hence very familiar with the Indian jhadoo). Despite this fact I still need plenty of clarifications for an actual move, lock, stock and barrel, so please, keep guiding me here, coz visiting for fun is one thing, and moving is altogether a different ball game! And so, if I may add, the jhadoo has a tendency to shed too much while creating puffs of dust along the way, leaving lovely layers of dust on the furniture!
Hmmm, maybe the swiffer first and then the jhadoo, time permitting, without crazy hat on.

Swiffer may be handy and convenient but it's just one more unnecessary product that adds to the waste. Like most disposable products. And, yes, I do realize that this was not the original question.

If you attach a big floor cleaning cloth to a wiper (one of those long handled gadgets used for pushing water out of your shower area/ bathroom) you will do the floors in half the time of a Swiffer which looks like it would take forever to clean my house floors!
This is a very efficient cheap improvisation that I am suggesting here - but with the amount of dust we get daily, a sweep with a jhadoo first then the wiping over with floor cloth is what is necessary for clean floors. I'm afraid dusting is inevitable - or else just turn a blind eye for a couple of days or so!
