Shifting family to Delhi
Dear friends,
I currently live in Mumbai. There are 6 of us here including my infant son, parents, wife and sister. I am shifting to Delhi for my doctoral work and the entire family (my father is retiring) is also doing the shift. My wife is also transferring her work to her company's Delhi office (in Ishwar Nagar, near Okhla industrial estate). We would prefer a place close to this area (was told to look at Kalkaji / CR Park / Jangpura /Sukhdev Vihar) for my wife wants to be as close to our little kid at home as possible. We are looking for a 2BHK (atleast 600 square feet) home in the range of 15,000 Rs and a decent middle class locality with a bit of greenery as well for my retired parents to take their time off in the evenings. Are the aforementioned areas as good as advertised to me? Can someone give a quick evaluation, please? Is there a good place other than the above to search for, with the budget that I have in mind? Any help on the same will be highly welcome and appreciated. Thanks |

Hi,
Kalkaji and Jungpura (both South Delhi) are good areas to get a house keeping in mind their proximity to Okhla Ind. Area. However, CR Park is going to be a little further away, and slightly more expensive. U can also try Siddharth Extension...it's a good residential area with decent DDA flats suiting your budget. If you don't mind your wife's office being at a half hour distance from home, there are two other lovely locations where u might want to look into -- Sarita Vihar and Mayur Vihar Phase 1. These are both towards East Delhi, but with the new DND flyover, the distances between South n East have been cut down to a ten minute drive. The locations however, are brilliant. You'll get a much more spacious house in a much better locality as opposed to cramped lanes n houses of South Delhi, at the same price.

Kalka Ji/CR Park is any time preferred over Mayur Vihar if you are working in Okhla. Though DND is there, but enter this after 8:30 a.m. and you'll find yourself in a traffic jam.
You should be able to find a decent 2 BHK in kalkaji in your budget. Try M block of kalkaji that is like 5 minutes away from Okhla.

I second Sunilg unless your wife has a vehicle of her own !!
You may also want to look at Jangpura Extention- Railway Flats are available for rent !! - you have to have someone do the snooping around for sometime to figure out which ones are !!! Its like a nice place to hang out !! Very FAmily oriented surrounds !! |
