Rideshare to Gurgaon / Finding a good driver?
I'm staring a daily Rs 750 bill in the face as I have to arrange my own transit from Delhi to Gurgaon. Is there anyone who can do a ride share from Hauz Khas area to DLF Cyber City? I leave around 8 AM, and leave the office 6-7 PM.
Barring that, can anyone recommend a good source to arrange a long-term driver that's cheaper and more reliable than calling up the taxi stand every day? |

Car & Driver Recommendation
I have a recommendation for car and driver for the delhi/gurgaon commute. I've done it myself for the past 5+ years and my driver (highly recommended) is available right now. Send me a private message if you want the details.

Hi Mmmm Dave,
were you able to find a carpool from delhi to gurgaon? Do you have any suggestions? I am aware of the carpool sites but I'd like to find a carpool with a female driver for my gf, who makes the same commute every day, through the crowded bus system or a series of share cabs that cause her to arrive 3 hours later at night... Any help in this area is much appreciated, thanks. |

Is it worth it to live in Delhi (South Delhi... Defense colony) if working in Gurgaon for 2 months? Or is it easier to just stay in a "serviced" apartment in Gurgaon, in which the commute is much less (but less culture and more malls!)?
Many thanks in advance! Cheers, Brian |

Hi Brian,
If you are looking out for culture, it's better to stay in Delhi and Defence Colony is a very good option. Commuting would take time though to Gurgaon. But then it's just 2 months you said. SO that would be fine I guess.. I live in South Ex. myself and I travel to Gurgaon everyday. I'm sure you would love your stay in South Delhi and would get to see the most of Delhi since this is the central connecting route to anywhere. Thanks.

Hi Wsminkapila,
Do you know of any drivers making your commute (or you yourself) who are interested in splitting costs? I know I said female driver earlier but that's no longer a concern. Thanks. RB |

Hi wsminkapila,
Many thanks for your reply. Very much appreciated. One quick follow-up question: What would you expect the commute to be from South Delhi to Gurageon - both to and from the office? Best, Brian |

I commute from Delhi to Gurgaon from the office transport itself. I know of someone who drives to Gurgaon daily if you wish to share the costs. I'm not sure if she also is ready for that. Quote:
From Delhi to Gurgaon if you reside in South Ex, here goes the details: Total Time by Bus: 45 min to 1 Hour (Off peak timings) 1 hour to 1.5 hours (Peak Timings) Total time by Car: 30 min. to 45 min (Off Peak timings) 45 min to 1 hr (Peak timings) I think you should ideally speak with a taxi driver who you can hire for 2 months who can get down the prices for you big time. Alternatively, catch hold of someone who might take you to and from Gurgaon where the timings might clash for you both. Or catch me if you wish to go for shopping on weekends to gurgaon... hehe Cheers |

Hi Wsminkapila,
Sweet! You have a good employer in that respect, her's is not as helpful. If the person you know is interested in a carpool, my gf has a friend/colleague, also female, who also accompanies her to the same company every day. They are both interested, in fact, in sharing costs, and since they go to the same place, it would be convenient for the driver as well. Let me know if the person you know would be interested. If she is, I can pass along her contact info to you. RB |
