| Performance Bonus If an employer has made an offer which includes an annual variable performance bonus, should this also be included in the official appointment letter? Or is it common that bonuses are discussed in the employment offer, but not included in official appointment letter? Thanks |

| Yes it happens all the time. the official appointment letter generally won't say anything about the bonus. Because its just that Bonus. You should keep it in larger picture of your earnings, but should not rely on it. |

| Well I am no HR professional but I think bonus & variable pay are two different things. The variable pay is paid quarterly the amount is based on achieving your KRA's and bonus is paid yearly the amount for officers depends on the company's overall performance. |

| Afaik it's a common practice not to talk about the bonus in the appointment letter (for a variety of reasons, some good, some not). I'm with Shashank: keep it in the picture, make sure the conditions for according it are crystal clear...but don't bet the bank on it, the salary should be ok even without the bonus (stuff happens...).
