Noida or South Delhi?
Hi Everybody,
I have been living in Gurgaon for past year but I got a job in Noida and with the traffic situation I guess the easiest option is to relocate to either South Delhi or Noida. I have heard many negative things about Noida regarding safety in particular. What would be better option to commute from South Delhi (I dont have a car only a scooter) or live in Noida....?? what are prices of accommodation like?? I am not on expat salary (unfortunately), getting paid slightly higher Indian salary. Also all my friends live in Gurgaon so if there is any group of foreigners I would love to meet some other people as I'll be only foreigner in my company. Im grateful for any piece of advice. ![]()

Don’t go on media reports, Noida is as safe or unsafe as gurgaon but much better transport and accommodation wise. Staying in gurgaon and working in noida will be really frustrating. The rents are same and vary according to kind of accommodation. If you still are a bit apprehensive, go for a place like maharani bagh in south Delhi which is close to noida.I am sure you will find foreigners here who are close to noida...good luck!

I am in Europe at the moment waiting for my new employment visa but I will be in India hopefully within two weeks. My work is in sector 16A is there any relatively safe and not too pricey location nearby?? |

I live in Noida. Would like to live in South Delhi(much safer, esp for women), but its unaffordable. So if you can afford south Delhi, its better.
As for news reports, I wonder why people say don't go by them. As if reporters "invent" stories of car jackings. they happen in Delhi also, but the frequency is much less than noida, ditto for petty crime. Its much higher than in Noida than Delhi.

Other option is to live in an apartment complex, but most apartments are towards center/east of 16A from sector 40/50 etc., which is a 5kms commute |

If you would like to live in an apartment I could suggest Sectors 21, 25, 28,29 for proximity to Sec 16-A. If youd like to get a private Floor in a house then Sec 36, 39, 40 and 15-A(the last one being the most pricey)

commuting between Noida and Gurgaon is a pain - i know people who do it and they are simply sic and tired of it.... would advise relocation to South/ Central Delhi.... places such as Vasant Kunj can surprisingly be affordable with 2 BHK units coming for as little as 15,000 INR a month...

the commute would be killer, but all said and done south delhi is the place to live . . . and it will only get better with the metro!
