Hi Zaira,
We welcome you to India and wish you a pleasant stay here. There are couple of very good service providers for Internet. Please go through the below link for more options. http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en...meta=&aq=f&oq= Airtel Broadband is considered very good and so is Tata Teleservices. Cheers ! Raghu

Hi delhinewbie,
Unfortunately I am not moving that time. Probably I will be moving sometime around September. Once I know what date and time I am moving I will also start looking for apartment. At this point I just want to have some idea which neighborhood will be a good option. |

Vonage in India
Hello Zaira, Vonage does work well in India. I have used it a few times and it was just fine. However, I understand it will offfer free calls only in US/Canada and your number will be that of SF. That's it. BTW, I also know a senior / elderly prof. doctor working for WHO residing in Delhi, mostly. and should you wish to know anything more, you may PM or communicate and if possible I will put you in touch with him, if needed.

HI Rajeev,

Zaira, you're going to need a few more posts and a few more days of being active on this forum in order to be able to PM.
Good Luck with the move. |

Best option will be Mayur Vihar area across the river, close and economical. Of course sundar nagar, nizamuddin etc have no competition if you can afford.

As far as gyms go, I signed up with one called Fitness First in Connaught Place. Arguably the best gym in Delhi. I moved here a few weeks ago from Chicago. Anywhere in South Delhi should be good -- I was told to live near the Defence Colony (although a little pricey). It's a pretty nice area with the amenities nearby. Your VOIP connection should work with a decent internet connection (grab airtel).
Good luck, Shrini |

Hi there both Agnes and Zaira!
My name is silvia, and also moving to Delhi quite soon, I'm chilean (hola agnes! and will be teaching at a design institute... quite thrilled and kinda nervous.I have the same questions you girls have, location, commuting, cost of living... I would be much interested in sharing a flat! When are you arriving to Delhi? I'll be there first week of July I think. Cheers to all, s. |

Peter from Ireland
Hi Zaira
My 2cents worth of advice is to stay away from Dwarka as was suggested to you....south Delhi is the place to be ...South extension 1 or 2 and Defence colony . get in touch and I will try steer you in the right direction Peter |

Hi Silvia,
In my opinion the most significant factor to consider is location of your work place while deciding where to live. Where is the institute located?
