Looking for Ground Coffee
Hi all:
Am in Delhi now (well, Noida, to be exact) and I have been unsuccessful in finding ground coffee around here. Any ideas where I can get some? I went to Barista and Costa Coffee here in Sector 18 Noida and both didn't have any for sale (I used to buy from Barista a year ago when I was here). Surely I can find some around here, including Delhi? Nescafe instant doesn't quite cut it for me ![]() Thanks |

At any of the larger markets and the supermarkets of course, you should be able to pick Devans ground coffee (Indian brand)- also comes as packaged roasted beans as well.
Our local hole in the wall grocery man doesn't have it - but one of more sizeable grocery shops we use (Kishans in Yaswant Place in Chanakyapuri) stocks it. I'm sure there must be something nearby in Noida. happy hunting.

I've also bought coffee powder in small South Indian shops in the Green Park area near AIIMS. Raghu.

Devans coffee may be available in INA Market - I vaguely recollect seeing a grinding machine there years ago. Other markets with good provision stores for coffee would be Defence Colony, Khan Market, South Extension, Greater kailash, Karol Bagh (I saw some there about 2 years ago in Roopak stores).
I usually get Cafe Coffee Day ground coffee - not expensive and good. I'm surprised Barista's and Costa's are out of it! I've bought there many times. I like 'Dark Forest' too, Raghu! btw Devans coffee is good South Indian.

Thanks everyone for the useful suggestions.
I was successful in getting ground Arabica beans at Cafe Coffee Day in Noida, but not the easiest experience. Its very affordable, Rs. 65 for 200 grams, and they said its "pure" coffee, and they do call it coffee powder. I went looking for Cafe Coffee Day in Noida Sector 18 and could not find it, no one knew where it was!! Then went to the Centrestage mall next to Radisson, found Cafe Coffee Day and they said they didn't have any!! But, they were nice enough to call another location in another mall across the street (GIP?), and have it delivered to me at the store. Took about 45 minutes in all. I realized that there are three malls in Noida within a kilometer of each other ![]() Thanks again! |

Good to hear you had success! And there's other ideas here for you too, once you start moving around Delhi. Hope you had a good coffee in the Cafe while you waited (in air-conditioned comfort?). I've just now finished my last Cafe Coffee Day packet, now onto one a friend has given me from Oz...Next time I'm in Jodhpur will pick up more - I quite like that one.
Enjoy your coffee making! |

Ask your South Indian neighbours or work colleagues to tell you the location of the nearest South Indian groceries, they will be sure to have good quality ground coffee at a reasonable price. Doesnt Delhi have Philips Coffee & Tea branches? They do excellent fresh coffee beans and ground.

ah yes, am enjoying a propa cuppa coffee right now, as matter of fact
Its good coffee too.and yes, had a double espresso while I waited, so today is definitely coffee day for me ![]() I love south indian kapi although I have found it difficult to get it without milk and sugar on the streets and all. I will definitely ask around though for sourcing coffee at south indian shops. On another note, yes, the Cafe Coffee Day was air conditioned but I was the only customer! And there were like 7 staff hanging around. I think there are too many coffee shops in that area and not enough customers to go around!! And I hear that Starbucks is planning to come to India. ![]() |

Costa in CP grind their coffee to order if you want it.
They are opening up a new one in Janpath and another at the Bengal Market, all good and heaps of new staff being trained. So good Costa is the best |

South Indian Coffee & Tea @ 131 Khanna Market, Lodi Colony (off Lodi road). Fresh roasted beans, plantation a,b, peaberry etc. - he'll grind it up if need be. Some of the better restaurants buy their coffee there.
