learning Bengali

I know this is a strange thing to do in Delhi - Hindi and Punjabi are much more useful here - but I'm looking for a Bengali tutor to take a basic 6 week crash course. Does anyone know where classes/tutors can be found?

Teachers can certainly be found in Delhi. When I was at the Central Hindi Institute (Delhi) there was a class in Bengali for some of the students. The trick is to make the arrangements in such a short time. You could contact the teachers at the Kendriya Hindi Sanstha for a reference..

learning bengali

hi trilliana

sorry if i have spelt your name wrong... it seems strange but people do want to learn languages for different reasons. see i learnt basics for no reasons at all. from my esperience the best way to learn a language is to hear it and hear it so much that you start understanding it and once you start doing it you will start speaking. believe me now I cannot stop myself from speaking bengali even if i try my best not to.

i once used to teach bengali online to an american lady married to an indian emigrant in usa. in the event you dont find a real-life teacher in delhi, you could go for such an option from the yahoo chatroom "calcutta global chat" or even from im members here.

hmm... well I am not going there now for some time but I am still going to learn. At this point (4 weeks left!) it makes more sense for me to just keep learning on my own and let my boyfriend help me out when I get back. I have a book/CD course and I will find others as well. Also reading and speaking will help ... i can say a lot more now than I could 3 weeks ago!
