how far from nehru univ to connaught place?
hello. how long does it take by foot to get from vasant kunj, just below the nehru university (south end of nelson mandela street) to the connaught place district? i've potentially found a flat (at vasant kunj) but have no idea looking at a map how easy it would be to get to the connaught place area. someone told me public transport in delhi is fairly bad..any opinion on that? thanks for any help.

On foot .. forget it .. its at least 3-4 Miles or may be more.
Hmm Public transport ... yes its in bad shape.. but there is an alternative for this.. You can catch a chartered bus..which takes generally regular passenger from vasant kunj to Cannaught place.. ![]() |

Vasant Kunj to Connaught Place should be 13/15 km.
No idea about buses, but its a half hour/forty minute drive, depending on time of day. |

CP is well connected with buses from all over the city..as captain said..that they would take 30-45 minutes..and the roads are pretty good...
would advice you to use Auto rickshaws...daily up and down should cost you around Rs.150...that would be around Rs.4000 per month...considering some holidays as well... |

If(!) I remember correctly than Bus 604 should bring you directly to CP (not sure if it goes all the way to vasant kunj). Else you can take any bus to Munirka and change there: 615 (JNU-bus), 620 and 56 bring you to CP.
This will always take more than 30min. I remember spending more than a hour from JNU to CP...at least I had a seat:-) The chartered bus Travinfoindia mentioned would probably be a better option. If you find a nice autowallah, then indeed you should get it for Rs. 75 one way - but you need to find the nice one :-) Last edited by uligaen : Aug 8th, 2007 at 21:04. Reason: Wrong Busnumbers |

If you have to commute daily a chartered bus is the best option.

charter bus in delhi
hi. thanks for the replies - all very useful. but i'm still not sure if i understand what a charter bus is...is it something i reserve in advance on a regular basis with a reserved seat? or is it just a normal bus running on a special weekday schedule? plus, any chance there is an air con bus service? thanks for the help.

Don't know about this particular chartered bus but generally
A chartered bus will be a private bus running between fixed points (and stopping en route at fixed points) which will probably charge you monthly for a guaranteed seat for travel. No idea about aircon on this route. |
