Gurgaon: Australia Network TV?

Have been living in Gurgaon for twelve months now and desparately want to connect to the Australia Network TV channel. We have cable but that doesnt have it, have written to both Tata-sky and Dish TV who said no. Have heard of people who do have it in Delhi but for the life of me cant understand why its not available 30km away.

Any advice?

aha! I can answer this one - since we went through the same process when we arrived looking for the Australia channel so that I could watch that fine, gentlemanly sport known as rugby.

Ok - so the Australia channel is broadcast in two versions. There is the free to air satellite version (which can be picked up on almost any sat dish apparently - along as you have a sat technician who knows how to tune into it - details are on the australia network web site). Then there is the encrypted version (which includes the sport) - which is only supplied via cable - and only via one cable operator apparently which is called "IN Digital" (and just in case anyone else - not you - needs it spelled out - that is the name of the company and not where you plug either the BNC, RJ45, or any other type of connector for that matter)

so the company to contact re the encrypted version is called setpro holdings, and is located in Noida! Have a look at the contact information on the Australia Network web site:

http://australianetwork.com/tuning/

set the region to India on the web site - and it will provide the phone number and email address of the local representative. The website for the company is:

http://www.tv18online.com/

good luck.

Another twist to this is the local cable service provider. Since he needs to invest in a local set-up box or something similar to that for each channel he wants to broadcast to his customers, he may not be interested if there are not many takers for this channel. Plus, do your local cable guy has any tie-up with the 'IN Digital' service provider as mentioned above by BB.
