Gay man coming to Delhi
I am 45 ys. old gay Latin American man who will be coming to Delhi to live for a couple of years. I have been in a relationship for some years now, so I only want to make new friends (Indian or foreigners) for common activities and travel around when possible. I love movies, theater, books (serious literature), history, traveling, etc. I am masculine, openly gay but very discreet, well-educated, well-traveled and speak German, Italian and Portuguese. Hope to hear from someone living now in Delhi.

Ahem... in my experience, there are one or two gay men in India, oh, better make that one or two Billion.
I found many gay groups in India, hobby specific. There was a painting group in Bangalore, a trekking group in Shimla etc. I doubt you'll have any shortage of friends, gay or not. ![]()

Welcome to IndiaMike.
![]() The Delhi issue of time out lists gay meetups, though there's nowhere near as many as I'd expect for such a large city. There have already been a few good discussions on here about gay issues in India, you might want to have a search. A good way to search for similar threads is to scroll to the bottom of the page, where a number of threads with matching titles are listed. Oh, and do be aware that physical contact between male friends such as hugging, walking down the street arm in arm, or holding hands is considered to be perfectly normal heterosexual behaviour. If I hadn't known this before arriving in Delhi, I'd have thought 90% of the guys were gay! ![]()

And PLEASE remember, though you probably already know, that Homosexuality is illegal in India.
It's against the law to BE gay, let alone engaging in sexual acts. But Indian men are very open to a hug and holding hands, as Haylo said. But Indian people in General have a very small personal space thing going on. |

Delhi High Court had ruled in favor of decriminalizing gay sex, and the matter is now under consideration in the Supreme Court, with the next hearing on 20 July.

Decriminalisation doesn't mean legalisation.
Decriminalisation means it's not illegal to BE a homosexual, but you can still be prosecuted for going homosexual things. Like decorating, no sorry, like acting out in public etc. But it is usually a step towards equality and legal rights. I reckon you should go to Chennai or Jaipur, They're very gay places, or at least very openly tolerant. ![]() |

It's still not legal, it's decriminalised. Very different.

Thanks for all your answers. Yes, I heard Delhi has decriminalized homosexuality but my point here is trying to have some acquaintances, I am not looking for anything beyond that... Cheers!
