Fitness equipment (elliptical trainer / cross trainer)

Hi,

recently moved to Delhi and am loving it, especially the food, which is why I need to start exercising a bit

Am not interested joining a gym, as I work crazy hours and much prefer the flexibility and privacy of exercising at home.

There a shop next to my house in GKII that sells elliptical trainer, but the price they are asking for is just way more than I am looking to spend (they are asking for INR 65'000).

Saw a couple of offers online that seem reasonable, but would really like to try the equipment first to make sure I'm not buying a lemon - something tells me the return policy here won't be that flexible...

So, any tips on shops in Delhi that sell fitness equipment? If anyone has a good elliptical trainer they haven't used in a while and want to part with, please feel free to also let me know!

Cheers,

ddiddo

Lightbulb

You might consider a weighted jump rope as a frugal alternative. They will whip you into shape as good as any hitech machine on the market today and can be had for $20-$30 bucks. Might have to order one online though. But definitely a worthy physical challenge and do provide a whole body tone ..... always pack a 5lb robe for close quarter workouts on India trips.

GK 2 is more expensive areas in Delhi and I expect the rates of things sold to be a tad higher...

In Delhi every category of product has sort of a central market where you can get those things cheaper and higher variety.

I am not sure about the exercise equipment, bu Jhandewalan Cycle Market might be the place...the other members can throw some light though...

Go for a well known brand like Tunturi.

Also go for something of clinical/commercial quality.

PM me and I might be able to help you out with advice regarding the type or bike to shop for. Although I don't know about your shopping options in Delhi.

Hey ddiddo, It's been a while now since you posted your request. Did you have any luck finding cheaper a machine? I also just moved to Delhi and am interested in buying a machine. I've seen a few stores around south Delhi, but haven't started pricing them out yet.
thanks,
Jenny

I agree with shashank, GK2 is bound to be more expensive than other places. One of the best places , it appears, is the Royal sport house in a market called Khanna Market near Lodhi Road. They ahve everything and their prices would be cheaper.

Hey there,

I've done some research myself on this recently. There is also a store with machines next to the Aurobindo shopping market (by Hauz Khas). Also, there was a pretty big store in the Hauz Khas Village, on the main road, by the ruins. Their machines started at $300, which included delivery and assembly.

Thanks, Puchoo, I'll give them a call to price out their machines. I didn't really consider eBay because I'd like to try out the machine before buying. I would love to have 1 or 2 machines at home, but since they are expensive, i have opted to joining a gym instead. It's a bit of a hassle to get to, so maybe I'll change my mind later on. thanks for your help!
