Delhi city guides / maps?
Hi all,
I may be moving to live in Delhi soon. Can anyone recomend a good up-to-date city guide to Delhi? I was thinking of the Lonely Planet or Rough Guide guides, but wondered if there are any better and more specific ones for ex-pats actually living in the city? I'll probably be living in or near the Kalkaji area in South Delhi. Can anyone recomend a good detailed map I can buy in the UK which includes these areas? Is Kalkaji a nice area? Thanks, TinTin |

For maps, Eicher's is supposed to be topnotch. They offer a city guidebook as well I see now.
For another city guide, try http://www.outlooktraveller.com/bookdetail.aspx?id=16 . I've never used either, but hear only good things about them. If they're not available at home (I imagine a good bookstore should be able to order them at least), they should be in any of the Indian metros. Those guidebook maps are generally no good for more than the most general of touristic purposes no. Or so I find. Maps of varying quality will be available locally, of course. Or again, visit a specialized travel bookstore at home and see what they have on offer or can order for you. There are some such very good shops where I live.

Eicher is readily available in all book stores in Delhi , and thats the best place to go for them. You will ofcourse find it in other shops as well but bookshops will be one of the best options.

Eicher's is the best indeed! However, I also like to use one of those free Delhi Map Guides that are available in hotels etc. because for a quick overview of where you are going at a glance they are excellent. For the finer details, then the Eicher.
