Delhi: Accommodation/friends Needed!
Hi
I'm moving to Delhi from England at the beginning of April to teach English in a language school in South Ex. I don't have any accommodation arranged at the moment and am looking for a flat or flat share within reasonable travelling distance of South Ex, so if anyone has any information that could help I would be really grateful. I will also need to develop a social life so would also welcome any advice about activities or groups to meet up with - I can see that just surviving in the heat, getting around and buying food will be a big challenge with my few words of Hindi and terrible bargaining skills so I am going to need all the help and friends I can get!! Looking forwward to hearing from anyone. Jo (PS am female in case it makes any difference - difficult to tell from my name!) Last edited by machadinha : Feb 18th, 2008 at 14:47. Moving to Delhi
Hi Jo,
I am from England and have been living here for 3 years now. I'm afraid I haven't got any accommodation leads but your best bet may be to stay in a Guest House/Hotel for the first week or two and then look for something to get yourself acqainted with Delhi, at least that's what I did. You are right about the heat, travel and other demands that this city will make on you but also many plus points to living here but your biggest task will be getting settled in - if I could give one bit of advice - try to take things slowly or at a measured pace at first. Do feel free to contact me for any more detailed advice. We can meet up when you arrive here and I am happy to try and orientate you with Delhi and show you around. Best wishes,

Pm
Hi Jo,
I am trying to send you a PM (Private Message) but don't seem to be able to at present, not sure why but maybe due to the number of posts you have i.e. less than 10 but as I am well over that number I am surprised I can't send you one - can anyone help? Thanks, |

(Sorry for this standardized response): New members do not have the PM (Private Messaging) function yet, neither to send nor receive. It takes a certain nr. of posts + period of membership.
You could create a free disposable webmail address for the purpose, then post it here. Or discuss what you need on the board. Be aware anyone could contact you on that address pretending to be the other. Posting your private email address is not advised, for all the obvious reasons. |
