Any 'organic' dry cleaners?

Are there any dry cleaning services in Delhi that follow/use non toxic methods and products, something on the lines of 'Electrolux dry cleaners' in Europe?

Not a chance. And if you or your husband value all those expensive suits, better take them to a 5* hotel for dry cleaning or on top of everything you'll smell like a gas station for 3 days after you had them dry cleaned. I found out the hard way, had to air 2 of my favorite suits for days before all the residue had evaporated. I guess most dry cleaners are less than diligent about the quality/refreshment of their solvents.

Aha! I knew I could count on you for that very apt and 'tongue in cheek-y' reply! ) So now in addition to all the other rubbishy work I have filled my time with, prior to the move, I can add one more tbd to my list of essential crap! Make a beeline to the cleaners around the corner before suits, duvets etc get stashed away for a while. (or better yet, become a hermit and simplify, simplify, simplify.....)

I have wondered why it has not become a common thing, specially the CO2 one, considering that it must be a cheaper option. A definite good business opportunity there for sure.

Capital investment probably. The old machines are not going to be taken out while they still work.

My experience of having white silk dry-cleaned here is that it comes back dirtier.

Yes, that may be the reason as return on investment is the first thing a businessman looks at.

Regarding smell, we used to have a great dry cleaner and the clothes never had any residual smell. People always complained that he is a fraud and does not dry clean the cloths, since they don't smell. He closed down in a few years time.

Years ago in Kashmir my spouse caught the dry cleaner cleaning my spouse's wool suit in the lake. When confronted, he spluttered "This is special dry cleaning! WET dry cleaning!" ... well, at least no harmful chemicals were used, just soap!

"organic," of course, is a word which means different things to chemists and shoppers. To chemists, I think, it is just a compound which must contain certain elements, and I don't even know which ones (H, O, C? N?). It does not imply either beneficial or even harmless.

Love this new idea for dry cleaning though!

In Bangalore, Fabricspa does a decent job of dry cleaning. I dont think they are organic, but at-least my suits and my wife's kancheevarams dont smell/look like a car exhaust.
