24 year old moving to Delhi

Hi All,

I need some advice regarding my move to India. I am 24 yrs old and am working in UK. I did my undergrad and postgrad from Scotland in Engineering and have 3 years of work experience. I've got an offer for 9 lakhs in Delhi with the same MNC I work for now and its for a Senior software engineer position.

Is that a good package for someone of my profile? Am I right in estimating that average monthly expense for one person(me) would be around Rs.25000(house+food etc).

average monthly expense typically is around 35000ish, if you want to live the life in delhi. yes your pay package is good.

Just out of interest.

Was that a salary of 9 lakhs per month?

I'm looking to get a job in India, but it seems my particular sector of teaching is notoriously underpaid!!

The best offer so far was 15,000 rupees per month

What other fields of work could I get into do you think?

Steve

Thanks for the replies guys. No it's 9 lakhs per annum.

I have a question regarding income tax. Are monthly deductions(like PF and gratuity) exempt from tax?

Thumbs up @Steve

You should try applying at the international schools in India, they're supposedly well-paid. Other high-paying jobs in big Indian cities require a high qualification and/or a good experience in the relevant field.
