Where to Live in Chennai??

...It's claims to faim seem to be one Hindu Saint, one assasination and a lot of recent industry.

Sounds horrible.

Don't know of any accommodation specifically for expats out here - some I know stay at Coromandel Club, Pleasant Days or Balaji Resorts. These are hotels though...

The way I see it, you could stay in a hotel/motel near work, in the city with the access to restaurants and shopping but also the dirt etc, or at one of the places I mentioned earlier, with the travel involved. Depends on your priorities..

You seem to have given us the co-ordinates for Pallavaram, which is just down the road from Chennai airport.

Sriperumbudur is much further away.

) tells me that my idea of an industrial wasteland would be about right: she says there are a number of car factories there.

GoogleEarth is not very good with its placenames in this part of the world. Wikimapia makes a good way to find places, then go to GoogleEarth to be able to zoom in an extra notch or two.

hi

for you i would always prefer a place in ECR ( East OCast Road ) about 30 km from chennai. U can alternativley try to purchase a place from that area. That place is full of farm houses, though i dont know how much u want to spend...

Most people coming here from abroad for their job would not want to buy a property, and would not be allowed to anyway.

Seeing as we're talking about it: how much does a farmhouse 30km outside Chennai cost?

im really in my eagerness to interact with people i din see the date .. he.. he.. 1 acre of plot without the bulding should cost you around 10 - 15 lakhs...sorry my intentions are good ..

u c im new to this forum and all that...
