Teaching Jobs in Chennai?

Hi,

I'm a newbie to this forum. I am thinking of moving to Chennai with my boyfriend this August/September for 2 years. He will be studying at the University and I'm hoping to be working. I am a certified teacher (high school Math&Computers) and also have 3yrs experience teaching EFL in Japan. So... what's the job market like for teachers in Chennai? Anyone have any advice for job searching? I'm really not too picky about what I teach.. I just want a job!

Thanks!

You can target IT Service industry that recruit English accent trainers checkout (www.naukri.com ) search using the keyword accent trainers and location Chennai. There is a new finishing school in Chennai 3edge http://www.3edge.in/ you can also contact them to find out if they have any openings.

Thanks for your advice! Do you know if any of these companies recruit overseas? It would be nice to get a job and a work visa before going.

I am not sure if they have an overseas office, but if you contact them with your resume and let them know that you are willing to relocate to Chennai they will recruit you.

What's more (but let others fill it in, I don't know the ins & outs of it), it will be essential I believe. As far as I know purpose of visa is next to impossible to change there, so you can't arrive on a different kind of visa and look for a job. Unless you were to return home first after finding one, to apply for a new visa.

GMAT/IELTS/TOEFL etc.

There are several cos. that supply tutors for students who need to pass these tests to study abroad. You might send a CV to one of them and see if they have work.

Some advertise in the Yellow Pages newspaper which comes out on Thurs. & Sat.
