Settling in Chennai, sort of
I moved in sometime last year from the US. Relocated for work.
It would be nice to catch up some of you people at a meetup or something. I live in a 2BR fully furnished apartment near the russian cultural center at alwarpet. Am looking out for a flatmate who can take 1BR and we would share the common facilities I can furnish more details later because there seem to be some restrictions on what can be posted here. Would be looking for like minded individuals who have experience living in shared apartments in other countries before =) |

Well, we don't do small-add or commercial stuff, even if its personal, so your post may not be allowed.
If you want to meet other IMers --- watch out on the Chennai meetups thread! |

Thanks Nick.
The trouble is there are very few avenues online to look for people to share places with, for Chennai. Dont know what the history is but I would have thought this would be an ideal place were people moving in to Chennai can avoid the hassle of a broker etc. Anyways Yes, the meetup should be fun too! |

We used to do it, Billy, but the commercial guys always nose their way in and spoil it, so the whole thing got cut. At least, that's what I'm told, I'm not a moderator. I know very well, from my stint as one, though, that it is a daily battle to keep agents of all sorts off the site.

th-dancer,
Yup, I presumed Nick was right about it =) Are there other avenues you know of where I can get in touch with people looking to move in? Other than meet-ups are there other social activities under the India Mike banner? Thanks! |

For those meet-ups, find the direct link here: Chennai Meetups. Scroll to the end of it for latest goings-on.
I'm not aware of any regular IM events beyond that; you might want to check out http://chennai.burrp.com/ for general nightlife and (widely) related stuff.

Try this
You can post an ad on Amma Nana store's bulletin board for 500 Rs. a month. Also if you are a member of the Overseas Women's Club you can post on their member's forum.
