roommate hunting in chennai

Hi all,

I'm a 25-year-old female moving to Chennai from the States in mid-October. I'll be working in Egmore and would like to share an apartment in Nungambakkam or the surrounding areas. I'm looking at a budget of 4 to 10,000 rupees per month for housing. Is that a reasonable budget for this area of Chennai? I'm not looking for anything super fancy, just a place that's clean and safe (and that hopefully has a gas connection already!). A quiet(er) street would be nice, too.

I would love to get in touch with anyone else that's currently looking as well. I'd like to live with one or two other roommates.

I'm also looking for some roomie(s), i'm a 25 year old female from Belgium and will be in Chennai by 22th of October

It seems we're looking for the same kind of places ( clean, not too fancy, etc...) My budget is more or less similar to yours, I'd like to stay under 8-9000rupees though.

I'm searching a place around Cathedral road so let's say, Teynampet, Royapettah, Mylapore, Nungambakkam could be ok if there's good transportation...

One question only, how long will you be staying in Chennai?

I guess you can send me your id by pm and we can talk more thoroughly about this if you're interested

Hi, I'm Daniel just a local in Chennai. I live in Ayanavaram and work in Teynampet. I came across your thread and would love to throw a light in your need. I'll arrive on Oct 3rd to stay for the first two weeks with friends. After this i am planning to rent an appartment. Perhaps we find something all together?

Hey Leila and Elephanta. I (female, working in Chennai) am looking for roomates as well for about six months. Will be moving to the middle east by March '09 or so. We could try to get a 3 bedroom apartment (in the ares Leila mentioned) and split it. May even work out cheaper. Let me know if interested. Thank you.
