Renewing employment visa in Chennai

If you are here on an employment visa and your company wants you to extend it and you receive a trip back home (the US, in my case), ABSOLUTELY get a new employment visa in the US (with Travisa). It will cost the company $100 less, you will not have to provide your Indian income tax info and you will not have to make 6 or more trips to Shastri Bhavan in Chennai renewing it.

Shastri Bhavan sends off the paperwork to Delhi and gives a 3-mo. Temp’y visa. One colleague’s 3 months has expired. He told them at Shastri B. that he needs to go to the US and they said they will give him some kind of temporary entry visa, but he will HAVE TO BRING BACK THE SAME mountain of paperwork to Shastri Bhavan—AGAIN!

Now you know why India cannot achieve the same growth rate like China.

I think the nature of the government, and the working conditions in many Chinese factories may have to be considered on that one!

I remember a recent article about a factory in China making keyboards for the well known makes of PC that either of us are quite likely to own. Very much akin to slave labour.

Every developed country has a dark past, it does not mean that I support slavery. At the same time I don’t want to see all the countries becoming like African countries. Change comes to a county when citizens start realizing about their plight and start demanding change from their governments.
