During my time in Chennai, I got the impression that an non-NRI American wouldn't have too much trouble getting dates just by patrolling the lounges at the high-end hotels, where fashionable set likes to be seen. I would expect things to progress at a slower pace than they would in the US, and there's the small complication that just about every girl I met lived with her parents, which introduces some logisitcal considerations.

That's true... but the best bet is to join a group - like a trekking group or a sports club... here, at least you'll find ladies who are open to meeting new people n believe me, that's a major step to starting a good relationship - who aren't gung-ho about getting married to the first guy they meet!
