NO PARKING fine Rs.200 in Besant Nagar Fast Fashion

First fine in India!!. We were in Besant Nagar Fashion Folks today, I went to the shop, our car was still running, doors were opened, kids were inside the car, and our driver was helping my kids open the ice cream paper, then the police stealthily put a lock in the tyre, and he asked Rs.200 fine. Our diver was very angry, he said the police cheating, he said if no one is in the car, car is not runing, no problem give the fine, then the police said if our driver still say police cheating, then we will need to give Rs.400 fine.

So let remember, DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR front of Fashion folks or Univer cell the shopping complex, opposite of the road can park.

Rs. 200 for the two ice cream.

When I read the title I thought you were actually issued a ticket, now that would be unusual!

Gosh, that's expensive. It only cost us Rs.150 in Anna Salai!

We're assuming that there wasn't a ticket, so yes, that was no fine, it was the policemen's lunch money!

They did give my driver some paper, and they took it back when I paid the 200, I didn't read what was on the paper.

That'll be like the scrap of paper torn from a notebook that they left on our windscreen.

Of course, they claim that a real ticket would have cost us a lot more...

it did look like official tickets. And today we drove in that area again, there were many NO PARKING sign there, and of course cars are still parking there. I think the police come sometimes check that place. guess we had bad luck that day, and we learned the lesson, today we park our car in the right place even though police were not there.

I've done that for you.

And I am definitely a Nick --- and no relation to the original site owner, Mike, or the current site owner Nadreg.

ouch sorry to hear bout your fine.
i too got a fine in chennai, small road near ispahani center. apparently i had parked in a no parking area (there was no sign board lol) and they fixed the lock on my wheel.
the cops were still in the area, so i went upto them and played the 'poor student card'
1. empty out all cash from wallet
2.put a max of rs50 in it
3.walk upto cop, tell him your poor student on welfare etc etc blah blah sir saaaar please etc
4.open up wallet, make sure he sees cash inside wallet, take out the rs50 hand it over, walk away. simple
5.within 2mins the cops assistant came unlocked the tire lock and i was on my way rs50 poorer, not bad considering i parked there for about 4hrs.

Correction.

Parking Bribes have arrived.

Or rather, policemen are asking for bribes... nothing new there!!!

But Chennai does have legit clamping and towing away

yup bribes everywhere in india, its just rates are different depending on the state/city. noticed its around 50-100 in chennai compared to 200+ in cochin.
be careful of mount road too, got busted there at 7am (march 2006) for doing 118kmph in a 40kmph zone. yes the cop had a radar gun and he showed me my speed wanted to tow car away but got away with a Rs400 legit fine.

No sympathy for that! Its good to hear that the cops do something useful from time to time.

Do you drive a bus? Or a water tanker, maybe?

I think all the speed cops with their radar guns are busy on the East Coast Road these days, where many people might argue that there is too much 40Kph limit.
