If I've got the right place, try entering 13.1309521N 80.1528543E into Google Earth or Google Maps. It will give you a start.

Is it necessary that you live there, specifically?

There are two Oragadams in Chennai

One is after Padappai (Route will be Tambaram - Padappai - Oragadam) You have to cross a railway gate near perungalathur railway station to reach padappai

The other Oragadam is on Ambattur - Red Hills road.

If you have the pin code, it will be really helpful to zero in on the exact location.

Both these Oragadams are way out of the city (Chennai). Not very advanced and will have very basic requirements. You may not find a Mall, Browsing Center or for that instance even a beauty parlour in these areas.

I will ask the same question what nick asked you..?

Is it necessary that you live there, specifically?

Hi Wenchy,

Oragadam is much much away from the City Limits and is an upcoming industrial estate where lot of MNCs are setting up shop.

The nearest residential locality would be Poonamallee which is also away from the city but has got a gated community built by VGP Group. Need to check how many residences are occupied.

Another option would be to stay in Mogappair and there are some good apartment complexes with Swimming Pool, Gym etc and you can get a three bedroom apartment for under 35000 INR Max. I am sure your husband would be provided a car and a driver and he can just take the highway and zoom to work.

Ya even I googled it, it is very far away from Chennai main city. but it is advisable to take accomodation near the workplace, as travelling would take too long for him. And how far into the city you will try to come.

The Ambattur one would be a short drive away from Anna Nagar, where Wenchy would be able to find some more modern shops and facilities. I was visiting a place only few km away from that Oragadam the other day --- typical Chennai-ouskirts suburb, being developed slowly. Many empty plots, a few houses up to ten years old, and a few houses being built. By the look of the Google Earth view, Oragadam looks more developed and built up.

If that is the area that her husband is going to be employed in, and the accomodation is not fixed in stone, I was going to suggest Anna Nagar as a better alternative.

Hello and thank you for replying to my email as such on here. At this minute we are trying to get visas for by the end of the week to fly over to Chennai. Right the Site is yet to be built but it will be next to the GKN facility at Plot No. B-13 Sipcot Industrial Park. Vaipur A? &B Village, Oragadam - Tamil Nadu - 602 105. Hope this makes sense because it dosent to me. I had a few books out from the Library and they go to say its one of the most polluted places on earth. I do facy the gated comunity called Poonamallee or the apartment complexes with swimming pool called Mogapair. Please keep me in touch. I think we will be flying out 27th November 2009 to have a look round. Please reply. Could you spread word.. many thanks wenchy

Poonamalle and Mogapair are both districts. I expect someone can pinpoint Sipcot Ind Estate on the map for you: if not, I've have a go.

I doubt very much that Chennai is one of the most polluted places on earth. We certainly have our share, and some places have bad industrial pollution, but stuff like vehicle emissions has been brought under control. But hey, I'm used to it!

Later...

According to this, we're barking up the wrong Oragadam, and you will actually be somewhere near Sriperumbudur, which is to the South of Chennai
