Who can tell?

Chennai is like that... blurred borders all over the place, eh?

Alwarpet is more to the North West. Alwarpet Junction is where SP Ramaswamy Road and TTK Road meet. Eldams Road, and that area across to Mounts Road, is Alwarpet.

So where does Alwarpet end and Teynampet start... that one has always puzzled me!!!!

Bet you wish you'd bought a house in St Mary Road before you left! Or maybe you did, in which case you are a rich man now

Too many old houses in that area are being knocked down for appartment blocks. It is such a leafy, charming district, but for how long?

Hola,

Writing in from an internet cafe in spencer's plaza.

First impressions of Chennai are good. Friendly people, lesser traffic than expected (I only have Delhi to benchmark against, and the situation there is bad!!)

On the flip side are the weather and the auto drivers but this forum prepared me for that.

Liked some 2BR places in Alwarpet and will most likely finalize 1 of them.

Nungambakkam seems too much of a commute on a daily basis, even with a car.

jimbo, thanks for offering too help out as well! hve not been online too long since i landed on Monday.

Hope to see some people at the meetup, understand the location is still being debated.

Primelocator.com

Send email to Abdul. He may have something for u. I looked at a decent place in Adyar on a shady street, but was too small for 2 housemates.

Hi, have you found someone to apartment search with yet? I'm in the same spot as you, new to Chennai and looking for apartments/roommates. My budget is a bit lower than yours (Rs6-12k) but I'm interested in the same area - my current office is in Nungambakkam, moving to Alwarpet in November.

Let me know if you're still interested in finding roommates. I'm an American, 26, female, professional.

jsprague,

I have finalized a 2BR place in a nice locality in Alwarpet. The rent will be somewhat higher than your quote.

PM me if you are interested. We can talk at length thereafter.

cheers.

Can you share how you found this apartment?
