Depends how you define 'near'.

It is the other side of Alwarpet, accross Annai Salai before (taken as heading North) Teynampet.

Not near as in walking distance, no, but not far either.

Google Maps gives good coverage of Chennai

Chennai roommate

Hey!

I am very interested in finding affordable housing in central Chennai and would love a roommate! I'm a young, American female who will be moving to Chennai at the beginning of January. I'd love to here more about you, the apartment, etc. I'm very flexible, I just need to keep a place in my price range.

Please do be in touch, my email is madekelin at gmail dot com

Thanks,

Flatmates

HI,

I'm a single woman who is moving to Chennai from California. What has your experience like sharing a flat in Chennai? How much rent do you pay? What type of expenses do you have? Would you mind sharing some of this info -- I'm trying to plan for my move right now.

Also, where do you live? I'll be working for a non-profit in Teynampet / Alwarpet area. Any neighborhood suggestions?

Thanks !

Hi Monica,
The expenses vary from people to people , but I have to say chennai is a little expensive when it comes to finding decent places to stay etc and little difficult to get used to for new comers,But then the overall experience is Okay. The climate is very hot and humid, and the Monsoon will start by the end of May. yeah I did have a room mate and the experience was good, however after My roommate left I have moved to a new place and stays alone in a single BHK.

Anyways... I Would suggest you take up some Accommodation in Choolemeedu or Nungabakkam as its a good Residential area. Its around 4 Kms from Teynampet.Plus I knew a bunch of exchange students from US who lived there. Not really sure if they are still in India,But then there are a lot Exchange student living in chennai. You could search other forms.I stay in Kilpak.

In case you need any more information u write to this forum or share ur Email Id,Somehow I have found that the forum is a lot less active recently.

I'm a 26-year-old American girl, just moved to Chennai to work in development finance (1-2years min) and am looking for a place to live. I would love to live with roommate/s but am having some trouble connecting with other apartment-seekers or people with open rooms in their flats.

My office is located in Nungambakkam and I am interested in living anywhere in generally central Chennai (Nungambakkam, T Nagar, Alwarpet, Mylapore, etc.) or even in Besant Nagar as I hear it's nice enough there to justify the commute. Looking in the Rs4000-10,000 (one person) price range.

I'm a fun, active, laidback roommate. I'm pretty flexible about apartments, mostly looking for a place with decent space and basic amenities on a semi-quiet street. I would also really like to send for my pet dog to have her here, so ideally the flat/roommates would be dog-friendly.

Please let me know if you are looking for a place, have a spot open, know anyone who might have a wide network to distribute this to, or have any other suggestions about how to find apartments and roommates in this city. Thanks!

But really, I am not looking for someone to introduce all my hot visiting friends to, nor a husbend
LOL! It feels kind of like wading through mud sometimes, hey?

Hi Monica,

is this not a duplicate post. I recall myself and Nick having answered some of your queries last week.
