im thinking about taking a job in Chennai

I have recently been offered a job in Chennai. I have 4 days to tell them if I am going to come or not and I need advice. They are paying me very little, and I will have to bring a good deal of money with me to survive. Is it reseaonable to live in Chennai on very little, to find an apartment (flat) or roomates? The job suggested a hostel but that sounds expensive. I will be there for 9 months. Will it be possible for me to meet young people my age? Will I be safe? I am moving from the USA so it will be a whole new world to me. Any advice. I will be making 3000rp.

so why exactly are you taking the job? will it look good on a resume? are they handling the work visa? seems like you could find a better paying job than that at a call center.

my questions exactly. are you sure it's 3000 Rs. or is that a typo? that's about $68! is that a day, a week, or a month?!?

If u r coming all the way from the US, just for a Rs.3000 Job, it is not at all Worth it. Firstly you will be spending for just for traveling and settling down. Calculate it, Rs3000 for 9 months equals to 27000. Your Airfare will be more than your entire salary for your period of stay here. First of all, it depends on what job profile it is, if it is going to benefit you in the future or will help u for showing experience so that u can grow later on, then it is fine, other then that, it will be a total waste of money, rest is entirely your decision.
