Abu, the way to reply to posts here is by posting!

Hmmm... Boat Club, Poe's Garden... You are looking at some of the the most expensive property in Chennai. Very posh, very expensive.

You can find some real-estate companies suggested on other Chennai threads on this site, or Google Chennai real estate.

There are lots of good places to live in Chennai without going for the topmost expensive: have you been here to have a look around?

Have you checked out other threads on this site where people ask similar questions?

ISN, he asked about Work Permit, not visa --- but the answer is the same: he can live and work here with OCI.

Future newbies welcome to Chennai

When not working what do you like to do? You should stay in T. Nagar if you want to be part of bustling life. If you want serene tsunami neighborhood try to live in ECR, East Coast road. Feel free to ask anything about chennai. I am in Long Island now.

Also, we both are currently living/teaching in South America and will be back in the states for the holidays. We would like to start purchasing items to bring with us in July (so we aren't buying everything at once). Are there specific items that we should bring with us? Towels? Linens?
I am sure we will be asking more questions as the move gets closer and appreciate all input! Thank you.
Aloha rosl! My girlfriend and I are also moving to Chennai! But she's the one who'll be teaching with AISC in July '09. We're starting a later process of moving so things are moving fast but we're excited! How has your experience been with the process so far? We should try n' connect via email or something? BTW, we'll be coming from Hawaii... yes it's paradise, but it's good to get out of our comfort zones every now and then

Hi AlohaKona! I am more than welcome to share my experiences with AISC...so far so good. But there is a lot to do in a short amount of tmie and they really are helpful. What is your girlfriend going to be teaching? You can email me at sjlotter@aim.com if you want to go over specific things. We are now living in South America and trying to get shipping ready to leave from my house in DC. So feel free to ask away!!!

cheers,
rosl

I used to buy it from UK. Literally tastes like dirt; like drinking mud!

But feels good.

I did bring some with me; got about 500grms left, so it is a rare and occasional treat now
