Driving School Recommendations?

Hi,

I just moved to Chennai a couple months ago and would like to get a driver's license while I am here. Does anyone have any recommendations for good driving schools?

Thanks,

Janani

In New Delhi, Maruti Suzuki runs a very good driving academy, may you guys can ask your local Maruti Suzuki dealers, if they do the same in Chennai also.

Yes, they do, and have a school in Velacherry. I seem to rememberr that they have a website. A while back I was trying to persuade Mrs N to go there, as they have simulators so you can learn the controls before tackling the streets, but, sadly, I don't think she's going to take to driving.

I went to Modern Driving School in Mylapore. I was living in that area at the time, and we rang around until we found someone who could teach in English, which this school does.

Velachery is not at all far from Perungudi; it is just a few minutes away.

Sholinganalur is quite a lot further away, but still fairly easy to drive to Vellachery. Drive... Ahhh, you wanted a driving school! Well, I guess there's buses!

Jananikn, Modern Driving Institute have an office close to RA Puram, on Rani Anndurai St, Near BSS Hospital. BSS Hospital is on RK Mutt Road, just south of Venkatakrishna Road.

T. Somasundaram: 9841066791 42141478 9841266679

Those are the numbers I have from a couple of years ago.

Hi Janani,

You may also try out
Bramma's Driving School ( close to Billroth/Kaliaapa hospital)
No. 30, Corporation Shopping Complex, 3rd Cross Road
R.A Puram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600028

044 24935730‎
044 24958487‎

They charge 2500 Rs for a 21 day learning session. Classes start at 6 AM until 5 .30 PM. You would be asked to drive 5 Kms every day. The cost is inclusive of Learning and Permanent Licenses.

Hope this helps.

Raghu
